The Munggel Tapakan tradition at Pura Dalem in Ayunan Village, Abiansemal District, Badung Regency, was a cultural and spiritual heritage of Balinese society that carried deep philosophical meanings about the balance between sekala-niskala and the teachings of Tri Hita Karana. Amid the waves of modernization and globalization that brought changes in people’s mindsets and lifestyles, this tradition faced challenges in maintaining its existence and spiritual significance. This study aimed to analyze the preservation of the spiritual values of the Munggel Tapakan tradition, to understand the social dynamics influencing it, and to identify the community’s strategies to keep the tradition relevant in the modern era. The research employed a qualitative approach using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies. The findings showed that preservation was carried out through youth education, the active role of customary institutions, temple-based cultural learning, and the use of digital technology for documentation and dissemination. Spiritual values such as purity, balance, and devotion to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa remained the core essence of the ceremony. The study concluded that the continuity of the Munggel Tapakan tradition represented the cultural and spiritual resilience of Balinese society, which successfully adapted to modernity without losing its sacred essence.
