GELANG TRI DATU SEBAGAI SIMBOL RELIGIUS UMAT HINDU DAN TRANSFORMASINYA MENJADI TREN FASION

Abstrak

Abstract

Balinese Hindu society has many symbols rich in philosophical and spiritual meaning, one of which is the Tri Datu Bracelet. The Tri Datu Bracelet has a three-color thread weave that depicts the teachings of Tri Murti and the meaning of the balance of life in the teachings of Tri Hita Karana. In the practice of the sacred Tri Datu tradition, it is generally equipped with Tri Tuka and has gone through the process of pasupati so that it is believed to have the energy to protect Balinese society from things that are niskala. However, along with the development of the times, the Tri Datu Bracelet has changed into a fashion accessory that is widely used even by non-Hindu society. This study aims to examine the transformation of the meaning and function of the Tri Datu Bracelet in the current era to become a fashion trend in the context of contemporary Balinese society. The method used is a descriptive qualitative research method through literature studies and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the changes that occur do not change or eliminate the sacred value of the Tri Datu Bracelet but expand its symbolic function as a community identity and the spread of Hindu religious values.

Abstrak

Masyarakat Hindu Bali memiliki banyak symbol-simbol yang kaya akan makna filosofis dan spiritual salah satunya adalah Gelang Tri Datu. Gelang Tri Datu memiliki jalinan tiga warna benang yang menggambarkan ajaran Tri Murti serta makna keseimbangan Hidup dalam ajaran Tri Hita Karana. Dalam praktik tradisi tri datu yang bersifat sacral pada umumnya dilengkapi dengan Tri Ketuka dan telah melalui proses pasupati sehingga diyakini memiliki energi untuk melindungi Masyarakat bali dari hal hal yang bersifat niskala. Namun seiring dengan perkembangan Zaman, Gelang Tri datu mengalami perubahan menjadi aksesoris fasion yang digunakan secara luas bahkan oleh Masyarakat non-hindu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji transformasi makna dan fungsi gelang tri datu di era sekarang menajadi tren fasion dalam konteks Masyarakat bali kontemporer. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif melalui studi literatur dan wawancara. Hasil kajian ini menunjukan bahwa perubahan yang terjadi tidak mengubah atau menghilangkan nilai sacral dari gelang tri datu tersebut tetapi memperluas fungsi simbolik sebagai identitas Masyarakat dan penyebaran nilai nilai agama hindu
